Anthony Martial targets France EURO 2020

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial admits that he hopes to be part of France’s squad in its quest towards UEFA EURO 2020, thus maximizing his effort helping Man United attain a spot for the UEFA Champions League qualification this season.

Martial led Man United by hitting the first goal from their derby against Manchester United that eventually turned into a 2-0 victory, tallying his total goals made for this Premier League season to 11.

RMC Sport took the time and asked after the end of the game if the French forward has his eyes on an international return, and he said, “Yes, I’m thinking about it. I want to go to the Euros. We’ll see. I do my job, that’s all.”

“I’m trying to do my best to help United finish in the top four. I will try to score as many goals as possible to finish the season well.”

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær admitted that at times within the season he has been furious with Martial, being the biggest critic of the forward, yet after their victory, Solskjær highly praised Martial and its new signed player Bruno Fernandes that scored for the club.

“Anthony and Bruno have hit it off,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports on Sunday.

“It is a privilege to be a manager of a squad with this attitude. You can’t ask for more. They are going to improve as players as well.

“Those little things [like Martial’s goal] will come but it is a privilege, and they want to listen to advice. For our players to beat a team like Manchester City is fantastic, I am delighted for them.”

Martial accumulated 16 goals and five assists so far In all competitions, with one more goal left to equalize his tally from his first season at the Old Trafford that signifies the most remarkable run of his career.

The 24-year-old forward hasn’t played for the national team of France since before the 2018 FIFA World Cup, with the amount of talent in the offense gives France manager Deschamps a tough call to handle, having Kylian Mbappe that usually plays on the right, and Antoine Griezmann, Wissam Ben Yedder, and Oliver Giroud are Martial’s top competition for the middle spot.

Griezmann and Giroud are Deschamps’ pair in the front as they were present that gave France the World Cup, most likely Martial best chance to play is on the left flank.
